Diagnosis and Management of Foodborne Illnesses: PDA version


Diagnosis and Management of Foodborne Illnesses: A Primer for Physicians and Other Health Care Professionals is now available for Personal Digital Assistants (PDA).  In order to view the Primer, you will need to download a third-party text viewing program. Instructions are provided below. Some of the links may take you off the AMA Web site. The AMA is not responsible for the content of other sites.

iSilo™ is the preferred text reader to be used to facilitate your viewing of the PDA version of Diagnosis and Management of Foodborne Illnesses: A Primer for Physicians and Other Health Care Professionals.  It is compatible with the Palm Operating System®, Windows CE®, Windows Mobile® OS and Pocket PC® platforms.

Using the PDA Version of Diagnosis and Management of Foodborne Illnesses: A Primer for Physicians and Other Health Care Professionals

Step One: Installing iSilo™
You should have iSilo™ version 4.01 or higher installed on your PDA in order to view the Primer. There is a trial version of iSilo™ that can be downloaded that will work for 30 days; after 30 days, the program needs to be purchased for $19.99. Please click on the appropriate link below to download the trial version of iSilo™ into your handheld:

Step Two: Downloading the Foodborne Illnesses Primer

Download the PDA version of the Foodborne Illnesses Primer.

When you click on the link provided above to download the software, a pop-up window will appear notifying you that you have started a file download. This pop-up window will either be titled “Save As...'’, in which case you can select where you would like the file to be saved, or “Unknown File Type”, in which case you can select the “Save File...” button which will take you to the “Save As...” screen.  If you wish to change the directory into which the software will be downloaded, you can do so at this time. Then, click the “Save” button to complete the download process.

Step Three:  Installing the Primer into your PDA
Follow the regular installation procedure for installing a file to your PDA. Once you have done this, check the Palm application launcher to confirm that the program has been added.
