CDC issues advisory urging travelers to the Southern hemisphere to receive influenza immunization
Because the strains in the influenza vaccine used in the northeern hemisphere match the strains in the recommended vaccine for the southern hemisphere this year, the CDC has issued an advisory urging travelers to the southern hemisphere to receive influenza immunization to protect themselves from influenza when traveling in the southern hemisphere.

CDC, HHS, National Influenza Vaccine Summit partner in National Influenza Vaccine Week (NIVW)
At a press conference on November 13th, 2006, CDC, HHS, and the Summit announced that the week of November 27th through December 3rd, 2006 would be declared National Influenza Vaccination Week. The purpose of this event was to raise awareness of the importance of continuing influenza vaccination through the months of November, December, and into 2007.
