Basic Disaster Life Support (BDLS)

BDLS is a review of the all-hazards topics covered in CDLS and adds critical information on the health care professional's role in the public health and incident management systems, community mental health and special needs of vulnerable populations.  The target audience for the course is physicians, physician assistants, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, allied health professionals, public health professionals and veterinarians.

The course is primarily didactic with a flexible format that can be delivered in one day or in multiple sessions.  BDLS can be presented to large audiences (more than 100 participants), limited only by classroom size.

BDLS meets the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.120 requirement for Hazardous Materials Awareness.

The American Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Medical Association designates this educational activity for a maximum of 7.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ^TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
