Physician payment issues

Physician payment issues

In 1992, the federal government established a standardized Medicare physician payment schedule based on a resource-based relative value scale (RBRVS).  Under this scale, physician service payments are calculated based upon the cost of the service provided as divided into three components: physician work, practice expense and professional liability insurance.  Visit the following resources for additional information.
