Consider these facts:
- Alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes kill someone every 30 minutes and cause a non-fatal injury to someone every 2 minutes.
- Approximately 17,000 deaths and 700,000 injuries are related to alcohol-related car crashes each year in the United States.
- Alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes are the single greatest cause of death for every age group from 6 through 33 years of age.
- Nearly 80% of all occupants killed in alcohol related traffic crashes were not wearing seat belts. (Source for facts above : National Commission Against Drunk Driving)
- Alcohol is a depressant which impairs a driver's judgment, vision, and reaction time. These critical skills are necessary for being a good, safe driver.
- Alcohol-related care crashes are a common cause for severe abdominal, head, chest and musculoskeltal injuries.
