IMG Governing Council Nomination Guidelines
The 2007-2009 Governing Council election process is over. The online election closed at midnight on May 16, 2007.
Below are the guidelines from this year's nomination and election process.
- The Nominating Committee will certify and select a slate of up to fifteen candidates. From among these, four physician members will be elected to next year’s Governing Council.
- Terms are for two years beginning after the Annual Meeting in June.
- No member of the current Nominating Committee is eligible to be a candidate for the Governing Council in this election cycle.
- We would like to emphasize, as have all the previous nominating committees, the great importance of selecting a diverse group of individuals to represent the IMG Section. As has been the case in the previous three election cycles, we trust the voting members of the IMG Section members will make responsible choices for the future leadership of the IMG Section.
- Election results will be posted in May.
- Candidates must be able to attend all IMG Governing Council Meetings. Two meetings are held in conjunction with the AMA Interim and Annual Meetings. Two additional meetings are held, usually in February and August.
To be considered, candidate materials must comply with the following guidelines and submit the following materials:
- Submit the IMG Governing Council nomination form.
- Submit an updated curriculum vitae of no more than five pages
- Submit an essay of no more than two hundred and fifty (250) words, written by the candidate, which addresses the following items. Please be advised that this essay will serve as the candidate’s unedited personal statement on the Web site and in the IMG Voice newsletter, should he or she be selected as a candidate.
---Please discuss your experience and other elements of your background that best equip you to lead an IMG organization.
---Please discuss your goals for the AMA-IMG Section and what you would like to accomplish during your tenure on the Governing Council.
- One essay of no more than two hundred and fifty (250) words, written by an officer of the sponsoring organization (not the candidate), that describes the candidate’s attributes and qualifications to serve on the IMG Section Governing Council.
- One passport size digital photo of the candidate. The photo will be used on the web site to help voting members recognize individual candidates. The photograph must be mailed or e-mailed.
Candidates must be current AMA and IMG Section members.
