Every year, medical, graduate, MD/PhD students and resident physicians from across the country convene at the National and Regional Student Research Forums to present original basic science and clinical research in multiple biomedical fields.
Each Forum offers young investigators the opportunity to present their work, receive meaningful feedback, and participate in scholarly discussions with their peers and established, biomedical scientists. Three Regional Student Research Forums (Eastern, Western, and Midwest) are held prior to the National Student Research Forum every year.
Since 1963, the AMA Foundation has been a major sponsor of the Forums, contributing more than $1.5 million in funding, to aid the professional development of future research scientists. In addition, the Foundation sponsors two $500 awards for the Best Paper on Clinical Management of Patients and Overall Excellence in Research, presented at the National Student Research Forum.

To participate in the forums, young scientists need to submit a research abstract directly to the forum for their region. The deadlines for the 2008 forums have already passed, but check back on this Web site in Fall 2008 for the deadlines and dates of the 2009 forums.
