The AMA-MSS can make an impact and get our name out there by taking the time to write letters to local, state, and national media and political figures on issues that are of importance to our members. We have provided some sample letters that you can use in addressing letters to your Congressmen or to an editor of your school, local, or national newspapers. Be sure to personalize the letter and give examples of what your chapter has done on this issue. If you have never before communicated with an elected representative, you may want to review the "tips for communicating" that is available through the AMA's Grassroots Action Center.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in a grassroots effort to make a difference!

Are you writing letters about the issue of the uninsured to your Members of Congress or other elected officials? The AMA-MSS has put together talking points (PDF, 67KB) that can be incorporated into your letter or communication. You can choose from among these items to make your individual letter more personal.

Action alert: Take action now to help protect patients’ access to health care. If Congress doesn't act soon, the government will cut Medicare payments by a staggering 26% over the next six years. Time is running out. Major action is still needed to stop these drastic Medicare cuts and to help ensure continued access to quality care for the patients you serve. E-mail your Senators and Representative, asking them to protect America’s senior and disabled populations.
