Costs
In 2003-2004, the average tuition and fees for first-year medical students at public schools was $16,172 for state residents and $33,653 for nonresidents. For students at private schools, average resident tuition was $32,488 and nonresident tuition $34,067. To these costs must be added possible tuition and fee raises, books, housing, and other living expenses during the traditional 4-year programs.
