Cover the Uninsured Week
Cover the Uninsured Week 2008 is April 27-May 3. Each MSS chapter is encouraged to organize at least one CTUW event. Learn more about CTUW and how to plan a successful event.
Economic hardship deferment
The College Cost Reduction Act, signed into law on Sept. 27, 2007, changes the way by which medical residents become eligible for loan deferment. Learn more about these changes that further complicate the student debt burden for residents and act as yet another major disincentive for the best and brightest students to enter the medical profession.
Victory in the Kashmiri case!
In November, the California Court of Appeal affirmed a March 2006 judgment in favor of the plaintiffs in Kashmiri v. Regents of the University of California, an important case in the AMA's battle against rapidly increasing medical school tuition rates. The University of California's appeal of this decision to the California Supreme Court has been rejected. Read more about the Kashmiri case.
