Herman I. Abromowitz, MD

Herman I. Abromowitz, MD is from Dayton , Ohio and was a family practitioner and occupational medicine physician for over 40 years. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation and has been a President of the Board. In addition, he served on the AMA Board of Trustees for eight years in various positions as Chair of the Finance Committee and Chair of the Audit Committee for two years each, as well as Secretary-Treasurer.

Other appointments include being a:

  • former president of the Ohio State Medical Association
  • former president of the Montgomery County Medical Society in Dayton , Ohio
  • former president of the Forum for Medical Affairs of the AMA
  • former president of the Organization of State Medical Association Presidents of the AMA, and
  • former Chair and Vice-Chair of COLA (previously known as the Commission on Office Laboratory Assessment) – which is responsible for accrediting over 6,700 laboratories in the US and abroad.

He received his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health and he balances his involvement in organized medicine with a clinical professorship at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine, Departments of Family Practice and Community Health.
