Phase 3: Program implementation - A meeting to address transforming the learning environment is scheduled for Dec. 13-14, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago Hotel. The meeting objectives are to:

Develop a comprehensive definition of the medical education learning environment.

Identify and prioritize factors in the learning environment that affect learner outcomes, including knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and behaviors.

Assess and identify gaps in the current "state of the art" in education; research/evaluation; and policies/standards with regard to ensuring a positive learning environment.

Create recommendations for change and develop implementation strategies to bring about changes that will mitigate negative and enhance positive factors in the medical education learning environment.
