AMA Councils and other appointees

e-mail story | print story

The AMA has found that certain aspects of its business are best addressed by Councils focusing on specific areas of medicine. At present, there are seven AMA Councils, each of which has a medical student representative who is responsible for providing the student perspective on topics discussed by the Council. These student councilors are also responsible for reporting back to the MSS on Council actions and activities.

Members of the MSS are also appointed to other organizations and groups that work closely with the AMA. These students serve as liaisons between these organizations and the MSS. The liaison’s role is to represent the AMA-MSS's position regarding certain issues and to keep members informed of changes involving our education.

Applications for AMA Student Councilors and and most other Student Representatives are due in January of each year. If you are interested in applying for any of these these positions, please contact the undersigned Councilor/Representative or the Department of Medical Student Services at (800) 262-3211, ext. 4746 or e-mail mss@ama-assn.org
