 Don Mitchell, MD

Don Mitchell, MD, is a specialist in Allergy-Immunology with the Mississippi Asthma and Allergy Clinic in Jackson, Mississippi. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.

Dr. Mitchell also serves as a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He is an attending physician at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS.

He has been a delegate to the AMA House of Delegates since 1993 and has served as chair of the Mississippi delegation since 2001. He served as president of the Mississippi State Medical Association in 1993-94 and president of the Central Medical Society in 1986. He was president of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology in 1999-2000 and served on the Board of Governors of the American Association of Certified Allergists from1986 to 1991 and from 1994 to 1999.

Dr. Mitchell is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

He has been active in his community and church, including serving as chair of the administrative board of the Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, MS. He has also served on the Millsaps College Board of Trustees, the Admissions Committee of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and on the Executive Committee of the State of Mississippi Board of Comprehensive Health Insurance Risk Pool Association.

He is a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served from 1968 to 1975 and retiring with the rank of colonel. He won the Air Force Commendation Medal in 1970, the Meritorious Service Medal in 1988 and the Legion of Merit in 1990.

Dr. Mitchell received a bachelor’s degree from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS and his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He was a resident in internal medicine and a fellow in allergy-immunology at Wilford Hall United States Air Force Medical Center at Lackland, Texas.

Dr. Mitchell is a resident of Jackson, Mississippi.
