The American Medical Association Young Physicians Section invites you to submit nominations for the 2008 AMA-YPS Community Service Award. The AMA-YPS represents those physicians under 40 years of age or within the first eight (8) years of professional practice after residency and fellowship training.
Through its annual AMA-YPS Community Service Awards, the AMA-YPS strives not only to recognize and encourage excellence in community service activities carried out by young physicians, but also to stimulate similar efforts by other young doctors. The annual awards, which will be highly publicized, will underscore to the Federation and the community the significant accomplishments attained by young physicians who give of themselves to advance the well-being of others.
Examples of projects which may be submitted are as diverse as setting up free clinics, medical/legal clinics for the homeless, natural science ambassador projects, monthly health education cable TV or radio shows, preparticipation sports examinations for needy children, sample pharmaceuticals donated to clinics for the indigent, involvement in drug abuse prevention, anti-tobacco, or anti-domestic violence programs, volunteer activity at AIDS clinics, or involvement in medical missions.
