print story 2007-2008 IHP Goals
-
Provide students with the opportunity to be involved in global health through clinical, public health, and research activities.
-
We want to take an innovative approach to the way information is presented on the Web site so that it can be more accessible and usable (e.g. allow people to search international opportunities based on country or idea; create a personal experience section where AMA members could input their own experiences and contact information.)
-
Get more funding information on the Web site.
-
Raise awareness of global health issues among medical students.
-
Encourage individual chapters to hold global health awareness events, particularly in conjunction with events such as World AIDS Day.
-
Continue to promote international health awareness at the AMA Meetings by recruiting speakers in the field of international health and providing information about global health opportunities for medical students.
-
Build collaborations with other AMA standing committees to develop and research resolutions related to global health.
-
Provide information and promote activism regarding global health legislation and government programs, such as the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
-
Create good programs for both the interim and annual meetings so that there are both good speakers and good booths available to attendees.
