Heidi Hullinger, Chair
Baylor College of Medicine - Houston

Heidi is from Columbus, OH and attends Baylor College of Medicine in Houston (NOT in Waco!) She is graduating this year and plans to go into orthopaedics. She spent this summer in New York City doing sub-Is, hoping to match there! She has been involved in both the AMA and the Texas Medical Association throughout medical school, and is currently an alternate delegate for TX in the HOD in addition to being Vice Chair of the Committee on Medical Education. Being in the HOD last year really opened her eyes to what the full AMA is doing to revamp medical education, and she thinks it is important that students know about these changes and provide a stronger voice to support or modify these ideas. She is also excited about being on a committee that can work on the AMA-MSS' role in educating its own members. Outside of AMA, she is an avid runner, having done cross country and track at Duke, and still competes on the roads when she can. Just look for her at the next meeting, fitting in a workout in between obligations! She also loves traveling and being outdoors with her boyfriend, singing with her church choir, and is an unabashed "foodie."

Elizabeth Burney Malinzak
Duke University School of Medicine

Elizabeth is from Greensboro, NC and attends Duke University School of Medicine. She will graduate in 2009, plans to train in either anesthesia or pediatric otolaryngology, and pursue an academic career. Currently she is enjoying a research year with clinical projects examining anesthesia in vascular access surgery and support for children with trachs. Prior to attending Duke, Elizabeth graduated from Rice University with a B.S. in bioengineering. After gaining much experience from three years of medical school, she is excited to serve on the Committee on Medical Education to examine concerns at the heart of medical students, including clinical skills, malpractice, and curricular issues. Outside of the AMA-MSS, Elizabeth is active at Duke on the IRB and Admissions committee. In her free time, she enjoys volunteer work, traveling, movies, and hanging out with her new husband!

Mark Sugi
David Geffen School of Medicine – UCLA

Mark is a first year student at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in beautiful southern California. His principal medical interests are trauma surgery and emergency medicine, though he spends a healthy slice of his free time working in health policy and administration. Outside of class he enjoys running, studying foreign languages, and traveling the world (alas, on a student aid budget). He is very excited about the curricular changes underway in medical schools across the United States and hopes to contribute to this evolution by broadening access to ideas that will produce outstanding clinicians and teachers. Mark's favorite city in the world is Napoli.

Sean Tackett
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine

Sean was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania, and after a stint in the Marching Band of the Fighting Irish and some time in Bethesda, MD, he became another favorite son of Pittsburgh returned to PittMed. His roots are deep in Steel Town, with generations of family living in and around the Pittsburgh area. He is the type to find everything interesting, which is exciting but doesn't make settling on a career path any easier. Now in his second year of med school, he is hoping to help make his school better by serving on Pitt's curriculum committee and co-presiding over the its AMA chapter. He is excited by the opportunity to have a hand in changing medicine through the AMA and the Committee on Medical Education.
