• The application deadline for the 2008 MSS Chapter of the Year Award has been extended until May 12. Apply now and your chapter could be recognized at the MSS Annual Meeting and be awarded a $500 grant for chapter activities.
  
  
• Cover the Uninsured Week 2008 is April 27-May 3. Each MSS chapter is encouraged to organize at least one CTUW event. The 30-day deadline to apply for Chapter Involvement Grant (CIG) funding for CTUW events has been temporarily waived for chapters applying by April 30 for CTUW events occurring no later than May 15. Organize a CTUW event  today!
  
  
• Registration is now open for the 2008 MSS Annual Meeting in Chicago. The registration deadline is May 8. Visit the A-08 Web page for more information about the Meeting and to learn how you can get involved.
  
  
  
• The College Cost Reduction Act, signed into law on Sept. 27, 2007, changes the way by which medical residents become eligible for loan deferment. Learn more about these changes that further complicate the student debt burden for residents and act as yet another major disincentive for the best and brightest students to enter the medical profession.
