AMA Benefits & Services

Member groups

Medical Student Section (MSS)

Medical student members of the AMA also hold membership in the AMA-MSS. More than 50,000 members strong, the AMA-MSS is an excellent forum for medical students to impact health policy and understand the issues facing medicine.

Resident and Fellow Section (RFS)

The AMA-RFS represents and advocates for residents, provides essential career development resources, and educates residents about issues facing the profession. All AMA members who are currently in residency or fellowship programs are members of the AMA-RFS.

Young Physicians Section (YPS)

Members of the AMA who are under 40 years of age, or in their first eight years of practice are members of the AMA-YPS. Receive representation, information and a wealth of resources that meet the unique needs of physicians in their early to mid-career stages

Organized Medical Staff Section (OMSS)

Join the only national policy-making forum for medical staff, leaders of hospitals and other health care delivery systems. The AMA-OMSS offers educational programs, information, advocacy and networking opportunities.

Group Practice Physicians

As a group practice physician or staff member, the AMA Office of Group Practice Liaison is your source for information, programs and policies that affect group practices, including recent trends and practice management patterns.

Women Physicians Congress (WPC)

Help the AMA speak out on critical women's health issues, increase the number of women physicians in leadership roles and strengthen the voice of women in organized medicine through your participation in the AMA-WPC.

Minority Affairs Consortium (MAC)

As a member of the AMA-MAC you can shape AMA policies that impact minority physicians and populations, help develop minority leadership, and support critical issues such as eliminating health disparities.

International Medical Graduates (IMG)

Promote understanding of IMG issues within the broader physician community. The AMA-IMG section ensures AMA policy-making reflects the concerns of physicians who graduated from medical schools outside of the United States or Canada.

Senior Physicians Group

The AMA-SPG is available to retired and semi-retired AMA members 55 years of age and older. Special benefits include a 50-year recognition program and educational travel programs.

Section on Medical Schools (SMS)

Through the AMA-SMS, all U.S. medical schools have a voice in the AMA House of Delegates. The AMA-SMS offers a forum for discussing and developing policies on medical education and national health care issues.

GLBT Advisory Committee

The AMA Advisory Committee on Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) Issues enhances AMA policy, advocacy, and education on GLBT issues. This section is a forum for involvement, mentoring and networking for GLBT physicians and medical students.
