The AMA Medical Student Section and AMA Alliance have joined efforts to provide free housing for medical students taking the USMLE Step 2 Clinical Skills Examination (Step 2 CS) beginning summer 2004 through the Community Welcoming Program. The Community Welcoming Program was created to offer a one-or-two-night stay in an AMA Alliance member's home to fourth-year AMA medical students, who are on the interview trail. This program has been extended to provide housing for students taking the Step 2 CS. Because of the cost burden this examination puts on students, the AMA-MSS and Alliance are working to alleviate these expenses by proving an overnight stay in an AMA/Alliance member’s house.
The locations of the five CS testing facilities include: Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Houston. Currently, we have very few hosts in these cities so we need your help. If you live in one of these cities and are interested in hosting, please contact Harry Bauer of the AMA Alliance at Harry_Bauer@ama-assn.org. Hosts are asked to provide housing for a one-night stay, with meals and transportation at your discretion. Visit the Alliance's Web site for more information on hosting. We also welcome hosts in all other areas of the country for students on the interview trail.
The USMLE also provides the locations and travel information, including transportation and hotels, for each of the five testing facilities.
