The AMA-MSS is pleased to offer the Government Relations Advocacy Fellowship (GRAF) for medical students. This Fellowship represents a premiere, one of a kind opportunity for a medical student to develop legislative knowledge and advocacy skills by working directly with the AMA's Washington, D.C., staff. These are skills that will be an asset to you throughout your career, and you may find the experience to be one of the most enjoyable and worthwhile parts of your medical education.

Eligibility: Candidates should be enrolled in medical school and be in good standing as well as be a member of the American Medical Association at the time of application and maintain current membership status for the duration of the fellowship. All AMA medical student members interested in health policy and legislation are encouraged to apply. Relocation at your own expense to Washington, D.C., for the year is required from June or July 2008 through May or June 2009.
Salary: A salary of $3,000 per month will be paid. Additionally, compensation for travel expenses to the AMA-MSS and AMA Annual and Interim Meetings will be provided commensurate with existing AMA reimbursement policy. Health insurance is required and may be a continuance of your current health insurance or purchased independently.
