Xin She, Chair
Albert Einstein College of Medicine

This is Xin, this year's CSC chair. I feel especially excited about this position and the possibilities of working with such enthusiastic people in our committee. My full name is Chinese, Xinshu means "fortunate rain." I'm a 2nd year at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Yeshiva Univ, NYC) If you've not heard of Yeshiva before, don't worry, I hadn't either when I came to Einstein. I've been a world traveler since i was 12. Lived in Northern Spain(Santander, a beautiful beach city on the Atlantic) for my middle/high school education, and did undergrad at UPenn (class of 2006.) I was a Biochem major, but more of an unconventional one, always going to talks and panel about "scientifically irrelevant topics" such as restaurant interpreneurship, Journal of a Modern painter, bioethics and its future, the fundation of Teach for America, or talk by the Philly Orchestra conductor. After doing 4 weeks of rotations in Mexico this summer, my interests in Peds have been confirmed. I might specialize later when i find out more about programs in the US. I had been the Region VII Community Service chair last year, and am the current CS chair at Eisntein. I'm pretty much active in Community Service since freshman year and found it one of the best things I've experienced in the U.S.

Priyanka Gupta, Vice Chair
Mayo Clinic College of Medicine

My name is Priyanka Gupta and I am thrilled to be Vice Chair of the CSC this year! I am currently a third year at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, MN. I graduated from the University of Arizona, home of the famed Wildcats, in 2005 with a BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a BSBA in Business Economics. I have had a number of AMA experiences over the last few years including serving as the Community Service Liaison for Region II, as co-president of the Mayo chapter, and in a variety of roles at the Minnesota state level. I helped plan our Region II community service project last year and am really excited to continue working on the National Service Project. In my free time I am an avid dancer. I love all forms, particularly classical Indian dance and salsa. I love to travel, watch college sports, spend time with friends and family, and indulge in watching Sex and the City with my girlfriends! I look forward to working with all of you this year and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions regarding community service.

Martina Ayad
University of Texas Medical School at Houston

My name is Martina Ayad and I am excited to have the opportunity to be on the CSC this year. I am currently a second year at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, Texas. I grew up in Cairo, Egypt. I moved here about seven years ago and resided in Sugar Land where I went to William P. Clements High School. I graduated from Clements High School in 2002 and began my career at the University of St. Thomas in the heart of Houston's museum district. I then graduated from the University of St. Thomas (UST) in May 2006 with B.A. in Chemistry with a minor in French and a minor in Philosophy, and jumped right into medical school. I am currently the TMA/AMA Secretary for our local chapter at UT-H. I don’t have a lot of experience working with AMA yet, but I hope that this will be my start. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than doing community service. At UST, I initiated and co-coordinated the first Annual Medical Missionary Trip that celebrated its third year this past summer. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with family and friends and watching nip tuck and house, and drawing when the chance arises. My favorite utensil is charcoal. I love dancing as well. I enjoy taking salsa, and Indian dance lessons while teaching belly dancing. I enjoy traveling, and do it as often as I can.

My name is Abhik Roy, and I am a second year medical student at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. I graduated from Penn State (GO Nittany Lions!) in 2006 with a BS in Pre-Medicine. Last year I served on the AMA Community Service Committee at Jefferson, and I was able to help organize a wide variety of activities, including a date auction, a clothing drive, and a public health fair. When I am not studying, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, traveling, playing tennis, and watching TV/movies. I am also a HUGE fan of all of the Philly sports teams - hopefully, one of them can bring this city a championship sometime soon....

Hi! I’m Lynn Wink, and I am second year medical student at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2005 with a B.S. in Biology. I took a year off before I started medical school and worked in a lymphatic physiology research lab at the Texas A&M Health Science Center. In school, I enjoy volunteering at the Student Sight-Saver clinic, working with incoming and underclassmen, and attending whatever free lunches I can find. Outside of school, I like to travel, find new music on iTunes, and keep up with college football (Gig ‘Em Aggies!).
