Lobby Congress on medicine's key issues during National Advocacy Conference

With Medicare payments rates for 2012 up in the air, and both the presidency and congressional seats up for grabs in this election year, there's no better time to advocate for the needs of the medical profession. And the AMA's National Advocacy Conference provides physicians with the perfect opportunity.
Join the AMA and your colleagues at the conference Feb. 13-15 in Washington, D.C. Physicians will hear from nationally renowned political experts and can meet with their members of Congress. David Gergen, a senior political analyst for CNN who has served as an adviser to four presidents, will be the keynote speaker at the conference. AMA leaders and staff also will provide briefings on the current political landscape for physicians.
On Feb. 14, Bob Schieffer, longtime journalist and host of CBS's Face the Nation, will serve as master of ceremonies during the Dr. Nathan Davis Awards for Outstanding Government Service. The Dr. Nathan Davis Awards are recognized nationally as one of the most prestigious honors extended to elected officials and career government employees for outstanding endeavors that advance public health.
Prior to the conference Feb. 12-13, medical students will partake in their own Lobby Day. And the AMA President's Forum will feature speaker Mark Halperin, a political analyst for Time magazine.
Register today for the National Advocacy Conference. Hotel registration closes Jan. 12.
