Nominate a colleague to the AMA-SPG Governing Council

Nominate a colleague to the AMA-SPG Governing Council

The AMA Senior Physicians Group (SPG) is seeking nominations to fill two seats on its governing council. The AMA-SPG Governing Council is comprised of seven physicians age 65 and older and advises the AMA Board of Trustees and staff on issues that bear directly on senior physicians. The governing council meets twice a year at the Annual and Interim Meetings of the AMA House of Delegates; the AMA reimburses travel and meeting expenses for governing council members.

The AMA Board of Trustees will review nominations and appoint new governing council members in April.

Early retirees struggle with gap in health coverage

Physicians planning to retire early often face a gap in their health insurance coverage. Until they become eligible for Medicare, early retirees frequently choose between expensive individual plans and COBRA continuation plans to eliminate the gaps in their health insurance coverage.

The AMA Insurance Agency's health insurance program offers more affordable options to physicians and their spouses. Plans can be as much as 50 percent less than group COBRA premiums or other individual plans.

Thousands of plan designs, a variety of deductible options and comprehensive coverage are available. The program provides access to instant quotes, and you can apply for coverage by phone in less than 15 minutes.
