For Minority Physicians
AMA-MAC granted section status
The AMA Minority Affairs Consortium (MAC) became the AMA's newest section this week and will now be known as the Minority Affairs Section (MAS). The acronym MAS (which in Spanish means "more") is pronounced like "moss," not "mass." AMA delegates voted in the status change this week during the Interim Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates.
The section will unveil its strategic plan in the near future; check the section's Web page to join and stay updated on the section's initiatives and news.
Share your story about why you entered medicine
Your inspiration and motivation to become a physician can encourage the next generation, and you can share your success story through the AMA Minority Affairs Section's (MAS) Physician Interview Project.
As part of the Physician Interview Project, the AMA-MAS seeks medical students and physicians (residents and those in practice) to explain why they pursued a career in medicine. Volunteers will be asked to record their responses on a flip cam provided by the AMA-MAS, and the consortium will select responses to include in a video it will develop later this year. Volunteers whose videos are selected will receive $100 as a token of appreciation.
Visit the Physician Interview Project Web page to learn more and to volunteer to participate.
