Run for an open seat on the AMA-YPS Governing Council
If you'd like to get more involved in organized medicine, consider running for an open seat on the AMA Young Physicians Section (YPS) Governing Council. The section is accepting nominations for the following positions on the governing council:
- Chair-elect, who will serve a three-year term—one year as chair-elect, one year as chair, and one year as immediate past chair
- Speaker, who will serve a two-year term
- Alternate delegate, who will serve a two-year term
- Member-at-large, who will serve a two-year term
All terms of office will begin at the close of this year's Annual Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates, which will take place June 18-22. Nomination forms are due June 3. After this date, nominations will be accepted only June 17 during this year's AMA-YPS Annual Assembly Meeting.

Register for seminar on how to negotiate
Sharpen your contract negotiation skills at the AMA seminar "Negotiate with confidence: Know what's in your contract," which will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Central time April 28 at AMA headquarters in Chicago. The seminar is complimentary to all residents and physicians.
Gain insight on how to negotiate a physician employment contract and learn what resources are available from the AMA to assist as you move into a practice setting. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to network with local colleagues and attend a panel discussion led by experts in the industry.

Apply for AMA-YPS community service award by April 30
AMA Young Physicians Section (YPS) members are invited to submit nominations for the section's community service award. Through this award, the AMA-YPS strives to not only recognize and encourage excellence in community service, but to stimulate similar efforts by other young doctors.
Nominees must be AMA members. Award recipients will be selected based on the positive effect they have had on a given community or population, the thoroughness of their program or project planning and implementation, and the completeness and comprehensiveness of the information they submit.
