Effective Jan. 1, 2008, AMA bylaws state that the apportionment for each state and specialty society, or federal service, will be two representatives (and no alternate representatives) for each 1,000 members of the Young Physicians Section who are members of the society as recorded by the AMA on Dec. 31 of each year.

Each specialty society is entitled to at least two delegates to the AMA-YPS. If you, a young physician under 40 years of age or within the first eight (8) years of professional practice after residency and fellowship training, have an interest in serving as a delegate to the AMA-YPS, contact your specialty society to see if this is feasible.
