Women Physicians Congress (WPC)
The AMA Women Physicians Congress Web site provides information on women physician professional issues and women's health.
- The AMA-WPC invites you to join other WPC members and interested participants for the WPC Caucus and Reception on Saturday, November 7 in Houston, Texas.
- Do you think you are being discriminated against in the workplace on the basis of your sex? As an AMA member, you now have the opportunity to discuss your concerns directly with an attorney in the AMA Office of General Counsel. Often times, when a physician or medical student feels they may be experiencing disparate treatment, it is not obvious where to seek help. Now, the first place you can turn to for help is your AMA. An attorney in the AMA Office of General Counsel will discuss your concerns with you in an effort to help you identify issues and to offer guidance in helping you find resources. While the AMA Office of General Counsel cannot provide legal advice, the attorney will help equip you with suggestions to help you to address your concerns.
This feature is being offered exclusively to AMA members. If you would like to take advantage of this member benefit, please contact wpc@ama-assn.org. Upon verifying your AMA membership, a member of the AMA Office of General Counsel will call you. - View the listing of individuals honored at our 2009 AMA-WPC Physician Mentor Recognition Program
- A new video is available from AMA-WPC highlighting women in the military. This video, recorded at the 2008 AMA Interim Meeting, discusses the needs and issues of concern to women physicians who are currently serving or who have served in active duty. It also highlights issues physicians should be aware of when treating their female patients who served in the military. Watch this video.

- In May 2008, the AMA surveyed women physicians who were also AMA members. The goal of this project was to help the Women Physicians Congress better understand issues and challenges faced by women physicians as well as to develop programs and policies that meet the individual needs of these physicians. Surveyed topics included: awareness of AMA-WPC, desired member involvement and the role of the AMA-WPC in shaping AMA policy. The data that came out of this study was informative, insightful and powerful. View a presentation of the survey findings and then send us an e-mail to wpc@ama-assn.org to let us know you think.
