The Office of Women Careers at Massachusetts General Hospital  is hosting a networking events for our faculty.  In honor of Women in Medicine (WIM) month in September, we invite you to participate in an exciting 'Speed Networking for Women Faculty' event on:

Date: Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009
Time: 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Speed networking will enable the participants to meet as many contacts as possible in a short space of time – it is an opportunity to talk with other women faculty and exchange ideas about professional accomplishments, challenges, balance and career pathways.  Speed-networking meetings are structured and scheduled so the participants have time to meet as many people as possible.

Please respond back to womens.careers@partners.org by Wed, Sept. 9 and let us know of your interest.

The Massachusetts Medical Society’s Committee on Women in Medicine is celebrating “Women in Medicine Month” in their society’s montly newsletter, the annual Vital Signs is a 4 page wrap dedicated to women physicians that educates women about leadership and membership opportunities within the MMS.

Did you know that on September 25, 1884 Dr. Emma L. Call was admitted as the first women physician member of the MMS.  In celebration of this historic milestone, 125 years to the day of the admission of Dr. Call to the Society, the Committee on Women in Medicine will host the play “A Lady Alone: Elizabeth Blackwell, The First American Woman Doctor”.  A plaque dedication honoring Dr. Call will take place prior to the play.
