Current highlights
- The AMA Foundation is accepting nominations for the Jack B. McConnell, MD Award for Excellence in Volunteerism, which recognizes a senior physician who provides treatment to US patients who lack access to health care. Nominations are due by November 16th.
- An Educational Program and Caucus is scheduled during the AMA's Interim Meeting in Houston, Texas. The session will feature a keynote speaker from the Volunteers in Medicine clinic, an organization staffed primarily by retired medical professionals. The organization was started in the mid 1990’s by Dr. Jack McConnell, and has assisted over 75 communities to replicate the VIM model nationwide. Please join us for this special event on Saturday, November 7th.
- The next meeting of the State Liaisons to the Senior Physicians Group is planned for Friday, November 6th in Houston, Texas. The group has progressed and is seeking representation from each state on senior-oriented programs that can be presented for discussion at both the Annual and Interim Meetings.
- 2010 Educational and leisure travel opportunities are now available through AHI Travel, a travel provider selected by the AMA for its members.
