AMA-SMS Meetings

Annual 2015 Meeting

Register now for the AMA Section on Medical Schools meeting, held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the AMA House of Delegates.

Please join your academic physician colleagues for this important event. SMS members can play a role in helping shape AMA policy by expressing their viewpoints on reports and resolutions to come before the AMA HOD. The meeting also offers great networking opportunities to enjoy dialogue with your colleagues at medical schools nationwide.

Meeting agenda to include topics of Maintenance of Certification, unmatched medical school graduates.

Meeting participants will learn about a variety of topics, including:

  • The progress of the AMA's $11 million Accelerating Change in Medical Education initiative
  • Updates from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education
  • How the SMS plays a role in AMA policy setting
  • The latest legislative news from the AMA's D.C. office

In addition, SMS meeting attendees can participate in two educational sessions on Saturday, June 6, on the topics of Maintenance of Certification (MOC) and unmatched medical school graduates. Featured speakers are Lois Margaret Nora, MD, JD, MBA, President and Chief Executive Officer, American Board of Medical Specialties, and Geoffrey Young, PhD, program leader, Group on Student Affairs, Association of American Medical Colleges.

The American Medical Association (AMA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education to physicians. The AMA designates each live activity for a maximum of 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in each activity.
