AMA Foundation Leadership Award Program
Recognizing Tomorrow's Leaders Today
This award is an exciting opportunity to advance your leadership skills within organized medicine. Medical students, resident physicians and fellows, and young physicians who have demonstrated strong non-clinical leadership skills in medicine or community affairs and have an interest in further developing these skills within organized medicine are eligible. The objective of the award program is to encourage involvement in organized medicine and continue leadership development among the country's brightest and most energetic medical students, residents, early career physicians and established physicians.
Up to fifteen medical students, fifteen residents and/or fellows, fifteen early career physicians and fifteen established physicians will be selected. Travel expenses for award winners, including airfare and hotel, will be paid for by the AMA Foundation to attend the 2008 AMA National Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC. Presentations by nationally prominent political, civic, and medical leaders are sure to keep you abreast of the most current developments and predictions regarding our healthcare system. Additionally, special sessions for award recipients will be held to provide speaker and leadership training.
All residents and fellows are encouraged to apply provided they are in an accredited residency/fellowship program through 2008. Current or past AMA Section or Special Group Governing Council members, current representatives to an AMA Council or AMA Committee, current or past AMA Board of Trustees or AMA Foundation Board members or previous AMA leadership award winners in any category are not eligible.
