OMSS Representative and Alternate Representative
Membership in the section is limited to AMA members elected by physician members of the medical staffs of hospitals and other delivery systems.
Representatives to the Business Meeting
The physician members of the medical staff of each hospital and delivery system may elect one or more representatives to the business meeting of the AMA-OMSS. Representatives must be AMA members who are an active voting members of their medical staff with clinical privileges at the hospital or other delivery system.
Representatives to the business meeting shall be elected by and from the active voting members of the medical staff of each hospital or other delivery system. Representatives to the business meeting shall be properly certified by the president or secretary of the medical staff.
Rules of Order
The Rules of Order states that only duly selected representatives to the AMA-OMSS Section shall have the right to vote at the business meeting of the section, but the meeting shall be open to any member of the AMA.
Before an OMSS representative/s is seated in an Assembly, he/she must be duly certified as an official representative of his/her organized medical staff to be credentialed to vote at the meeting.
Upon arrival at the meeting, a representative must first pick up his/her badge at registration before being credentialed at the credentialing booth. A representative is officially credentialed only when an orange dot appears on his/her badge.
A credentialed representative may transfer his/her credentials to an alternate representative from the same hospital or other delivery system by notifying the Credentials Committee that the individual meets the criteria for serving as an AMA-OMSS representative. Upon approval of the Credentials Committee, the credentialed representative will transfer the official badge with the credentialing ribbon and label to the alternate representative.

Prior to the meeting the AMA-OMSS Handbook and other meeting material are sent to each participant.
