AMA-MSS Region 6 Meetings

2014 AMA-MSS Region 6 Meeting
The 2014 AMA-MSS Region 6 Meeting was held March 7-8, 2014 in Washington, DC, hosted by the AMA-MSS at Georgetown University. The conference was geared towards introducing new ideas in medicine and developing needed skills for professional development. Dr. Jon Lorsch, the keynote speaker and NIH Director of General Medical Sciences, gave a fantastic talk on what direction medicine needs to go. Presentations were given by AMA-MSS leaders as well as students from across the Region. Topics included: technology in medicine, publishing research, public speaking, and a day in the life of a resident. The Region also hosted a 5k benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project that turned out AMA members and non-member alike. Attendees left the conference with knowledge and experiences that will help them for years to come.

The 2013 AMA-MSS Region 6 Meeting was held February 8-9, 2013 in Washington, DC, hosted by the AMA-MSS at Georgetown University.



2012 AMA-MSS Region 6 Meeting

The 2012 AMA-MSS Region 6 Meeting was held Feb. 10-11, 2012, in Washington DC, hosted by the AMA-MSS at Georgetown University. The theme was: Where the Future Lies.



2011 AMA-MSS Region Meeting

The 2011 AMA-MSS Region 6 Meeting was held Feb. 4-5, 2011, at the Washington Court Hotel in Washington, D.C. The Region 6 annual meeting was a great introduction to the Lobby Day weekend and included a Leadership School that discussed ways to collaborate and work with colleagues in constructive communication as well as ways to strengthen the doctor/patient relationship. The region hosted Mr. Mathew Ashley from GL Advisor who introduced the group to the new Income Based Repayment and Public Service Loan Forgiveness programs offered by the government to help alleviate medical student debt. The region also hosted workshops to assist new chapters get off the ground and to help students prepare meaningful resolutions for the upcoming annual meeting in Chicago. The region began the process of planning their regional community service event to be held in April as a bike ride from Philadelphia, PA to the Jersey Shore. Finally, the group collected warm winter clothing that was donated to a local adolescent homeless shelter in the D.C. area.
