Our People

AMA Council on Medical Education Council members are dedicated to advancing the quality of medical education in America and ensuring the standards for measuring its success are high.

Council members are generally elected to a four-year term, with a two-term limit, by the AMA House of Delegates. Because the board plays such an integral role in council proceedings, the AMA Board of Trustee liaisons facilitate communication between the council and board members.

In addition to its 12-member constituency, the AMA Council on Medical Education seeks assistance from several committees and task forces, and also sponsors the Liaison Committee for Specialty Boards in conjunction with the American Board of Medical Specialties.
