Partnership for Clear Health Communication
In addition to developing its own health literacy efforts, the AMA Foundation was a founding member of the Partnership for Clear Health Communication – a coalition of high visibility health organizations working to build awareness and advance solutions to improve health literacy and positively impact health outcomes.
Visit their website to learn more about what the coalition is doing and to find helpful health literacy resources, such as Ask Me 3. Ask Me 3 promotes three simple but essential questions that patients should ask their providers in every health care interaction. Similarly, providers should always encourage their patients to understand the answers to these questions:
· What is my main problem?
· What do I need to do?
· Why is it important for me to do this?
Ask Me 3 is an effort to ensure patients ask the most basic questions about their care, and that they receive clear, helpful answers.
