Steven Churchill joined the AMA Foundation as its executive director in August of 2007. Previously, he served as vice president of development and alumni relations for Des Moines University. His professional career includes three terms in the Iowa House of Representatives and nearly two decades as a fund raising professional.
Steve’s honors include being recognized by the Des Moines Business Record as one of forty under 40 top business leaders, receiving the Commanders Award for Public Service from the Department of the Army, and being named by the Iowa Jaycees as one of Ten Outstanding Young Iowans. He received a B.A. in political science from Iowa State University.

Louella has worked as a program officer at the AMA Foundation since December of 2004. She is responsible for managing the AMA Foundation’s grantmaking and awards process with her colleague Dina Lindenberg. Her responsibilities include the Foundation’s health literacy, research, and free clinic programs. She received a B.S. in honors biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s in public health from Columbia University.

Jessica has worked with the program officers to administer the Foundation’s programs since November 2005. She handles inquiries regarding the application and selection process, as well as the correspondence between applicants, recipients, and selection committee members. Jessica also serves as the point person for the AMA Foundation Web site, making sure content is current. She received her B.A. in women’s studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004.

As the database and financial coordinator to the AMA Foundation, Bell is responsible for managing the Raisers Edge and Financial Edge Databases, keeping current constituent information on gifts, and processing accounts payable. Bell has been employed by the AMA since 1973, where she started as a key punch operator, then advanced to managing a staff of eight operators. In 2000, she started working for the AMA Foundation.

Dina has worked as a program officer at the AMA Foundation since December of 2004. She is responsible for managing the AMA Foundation’s grantmaking and awards process with her colleague Louella Hung. Her responsibilities include medical student scholarships, awards, and the Foundation’s healthy lifestyles grant program, the Fund for Better Health. Dina has 13 years of experience working with nonprofit associations. She received a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia and an M.S. in public service management from DePaul University.

Julie has served as the executive assistant of the AMA Foundation since early 2008. Her primary responsibilities include assisting the executive director with board governance, development and operations, and managing the Foundation’s internship program. She also coordinates AMA Foundation Communications including the quarterly newsletter and monthly e-news. She is graduate of DePaul University with a B.A. in Communication.

Tom is the chief financial officer at the AMA Foundation and has been in this position since 2003. He is responsible for preparing and analyzing all financial information and reports, managing the investment portfolio, managing the Foundation’s data and software, and implementing nonprofit best practices. He has more than 30 years of financial experience in large corporate organizations. Tom received a B.S. in economics from the University of Illinois, an M.B.A. in finance from DePaul University and is a CPA.

Prior to joining the AMA Foundation in May 2009, Judi worked with the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation where she directed a five-year endowment campaign that raised more than $35 million in unrestricted and designated funds. Her experience in major and planned gifts spans more than 20 years in higher education development at the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. A member of the State Bar of Michigan, she holds the JD from the University of Toledo College of Law and graduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan and Michigan State University.

Anne has worked with the AMA Foundation in development since December of 2003. As the manager of annual giving, she is responsible for the development strategy and management of the annual fund. Her responsibilities include donor cultivation, stewardship, volunteer management, fundraising, and the Circle of Champions annual giving club.
