Clarence Chou, MD

Clarence Chou, MD

Clarence Chou, MD, is a staff psychiatrist at the Behavioral Health Division, Milwaukee County . He is board certified by the ABPN in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. He is an associate clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW).

He has been a Board Examiner for his specialty since 1994. He has been on the Wisconsin AMA delegation since 1999, as a regular delegate since 2004. He has been a delegate to the Wisconsin Medical Society (WMS) House of Delegates since 1993, and served on several reference committees. He has been on multiple WMS councils and is currently on Legislation and Health Care Access and Financing. He was on the WMS Board of Directors from 1994-2005 and was the vice-chair and chair from 2001-2005 and previously served as President of WMS.

He is on the Board of Directors of the Medical Society of Milwaukee County (MSMC). He is a representative from Wisconsin to the assemblies of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). He is the legislative representative to the APA from Wisconsin and is on the Community Psychiatry and Continuing Medical Education committees and the Maintenance of Certification Workgroup for AACAP. He has been on the executive committee for the Wisconsin Psychiatric Association since 1991 (past treasurer, secretary, Milwaukee Chapter president), and the executive committee for the Wisconsin Chapter of child psychiatrists (past president). He has been on advisory committees to the Wisconsin State Legislature, Wisconsin Department of Licensing and Regulation, and the Secretary of Health and Family Services.

He has volunteered on various committees for the United Way of Greater Milwaukee since 1997. He has served on the board of the Wisconsin Organization of Asian Americans for 6 years, the board of NAMI Greater Milwaukee for 11 years, the board of the Planning Council of Greater Milwaukee, and the planning committee for the 11 years of the Asian Moon Festival. He is a past president of the Milwaukee Forum and the Organization of Chinese Americans, Wisconsin Chapter. He was on the City of Milwaukee's Mayor's Commission on Crime.

He is a Distinguished Fellow of the APA, and received the Department of Psychiatry Service Award (MCW) in 2004, the Marvin Wagner medical student teaching award (MCW) in 2004, the Gwen T. Jackson Service award (United Way of Greater Milwaukee) in 2005, and the Distinguished Service Award (MSMC) in 2006.

Dr. Chou received a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and an M.D. from MCW. He was a resident in general psychiatry and a fellow in child and adolescent psychiatry at the MCW Affiliated Hospitals.

Dr. Chou is a resident of Mequon, Wisconsin.
