- Served as Vice Chair of President’s Committee on people with Intellectual Disabilities under President Bush.
- Served as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) representing the interests of 41000 physicians.
- Served as the Chairperson of the Womens’ Physician committee of AAPI
- Lobbied on Capitol Hill for issues effecting women and children
- Served as the President of the local chapter of AMWA
6) Personal Statement: Dr. Appareddy was sworn in as Vice-Chair of the President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities at a White House ceremony in 2002 by Secretary of HHS Tommy Thompson. She is the recipient of the 2008 AMA Leadership Award.
Dr. Appareddy’s continuum of service to the medical profession has spanned over two decades. Her multifaceted career includes being on the faculty at Brown University Medical School, practicing Psychiatrist, mother of two daughters, member of the Board of hospitals, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the largest ethnic medical organization-AAPI and President of Chattanooga chapter of American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA).

Dr. Appareddy has lobbied on Capital Hill, on health care issues affecting Women and Children. She participates in health fairs in Atlanta in honor of King and Gandhi to benefit the uninsured. In 1985 she worked as a volunteer medical doctor at a New York State Mental health institution. In 2002 she met with the President of India and facilitated the transfer of clinical knowledge such as reduction of Child and Infant Mortality to India. She is currently the Alternate delegate to AMA. She trained at Mount Sinai in New York and is Board Certified.
