AMA-WPC Video - Woman in Combat
Do you work with female physicians that may serve or have served in the military? Do you have female patients who have served in the military? If you answered "yes" to either question, you will definitely want to check out the latest video from the AMA-WPC entitled "Women in Combat" (Media file).
This session, offered at the 2008 AMA Interim Meeting, was designed to familiarize physicians, medical students and other health care providers about health issues for women in the military including sex discrimination and work/life adjustments. Today, women make up 15 percent of active-duty forces, and in the Marine Corps, this number has grown to 20 percent. Many in health care are unaware of the unique issues these women face during their service and after they have returned to their homes. The goals of this program are to educate and prepare doctors about the effects of war on women as well as the federal health care provisions currently in place to help them in their efforts.
