Health Literacy Kit

The Health Literacy and Patient Safety: Help Patients Understand educational kit is the AMA Foundation's primary tool for informing physicians, health care professionals and patient advocates about health literacy.

This 2007 version of the health literacy kit is updated from the previous version in that:

Please note the following new instructions for claiming credit effective May 2009.  The kit is designed as a self-study CME activity for physicians. Physicians may earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ by watching the instructional video, reading the manual for clinicians (PDF), studying the case discussions and completing the enclosed evaluation and post-test. The estimated time to complete the activity is 2.5 hours. Physicians must then complete the CME questionnaire (including both the evaluation and the post-test) provided at the back of the manual for clinicians and submit it via mail or fax to:

All submissions must be signed and dated.

A certificate documenting your participation in the CME activity will be forwarded to you upon the successful achievement of a score of at least 70%.
